This course is suitable for those working in care setting who require information and training regarding Diabetes, what it is and how to support someone in the management of their diabetes.

Syllabus

What will I learn?

This course will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to Diabetes including the pancreas, glucose and insulin
  • Types of Diabetes
  • Medication including storage, pens and sites
  • Infection control
  • Monitoring blood glucose levels
  • Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia
  • Diabetes related complications and wellbeing

Assessment Criteria

This course will be assessed through a knowledge paper at the end of the session.
