This course is suitable for those working in health and social care in order for them to understand the importance of food safety, including hygiene, in the preparation and handling of food and the importance of nutrition and hydration in maintaining health and well-being.

Like all of our Health and Social Care courses our Level 2 Award in Food Safety, Nutrition and Hydration is mapped to CQC regulations, national guidelines and recognised qualifications. Find out more here.

What will I learn?

This course covers the following topics:

  • Food safety, hygiene and hazards
  • Temperature and storage
  • Effects of poor nutrition and hydration
  • Resolving difficulties with intake
  • What constitutes a balanced diets
  • Taking a person-centred approach to nutritional intake

Assessment Criteria

This course is assessed via a knowledge paper at the end of the course.
