Is this course for me?

This course is suitable for healthcare support workers and adult social care workers to enable them to recognise the principles of safe moving and assisting and the safe use of equipment such as hoists.

Like all of our Health and Social care courses our Level 2 Award in Moving, Assisting and Hoisting is mapped to CQC regulations, national guidelines and recognised qualifications. Find out more here.

Syllabus

What will I learn?

This course covers the following topics:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Legislation, company policy and responsibilities
  • Risk assessment, ergonomics and handling plans
  • Personal safety, principles of safer moving and handling, communication and team work
  • Participation, person centred approaches, advice and assistance and recording
  • Practical exercises

Assessment Criteria

This course is assessed through a combination of practical exercises and a knowledge paper.
