Is this course for me?

This course is suitable for new and existing staff working in residential, domiciliary or nursing care. This course provides and understanding of safe handling of medicines.

Like all of our Health and Social Care courses our Level 2 Award in the Safe Handling and Administration of Medication is mapped to CQC regulations, national guidelines and recognised qualifications. Find out more here.

  • Legislation and guidance
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Classification, types, names and forms of medication
  • Supply, storage and disposal
  • Procedures for the Safe Handing and Administration of Medicines
  • Errors and how to deal with them
  • Side effects and adverse reactions

Assessment Criteria

This course is assessed via a knowledge paper at the end of the course. It is advised that the competency of each worker must be assessed by their employer before they administer medication.
